Global Rollout of the Funds Transfer Pricing System
Volkswagen Financial Services AG (VW FS AG) is one of the largest financial services companies in the automotive sector.
Results at a Glance
Volkswagen Financial Services, in collaboration with zeb, implemented an expanded funds transfer pricing model to consistently account for liquidity costs across the Group and enable uniform management across all national subsidiaries.
Background & Objectives
The financial market crisis led to a sustained increase in liquidity costs. This created the challenge of systematically and consistently accounting for these costs in the national subsidiaries of Volkswagen Financial Services. The existing controlling framework was therefore expanded to explicitly account for liquidity costs.
The Solution: Concept Development and Pilot Implementation
In the first phase of the project, the methodological foundations of funds transfer pricing were defined, and a software tool was developed to support the implementation. In addition, pilot markets were selected and training materials were created.

Rollout to the regional subsidiaries
Rollout and Implementation
After the concept phase was completed, the rollout was initially carried out in selected pilot markets. During this process, processes, organizational structure, data availability, and the IT landscape were analyzed, and areas requiring action were identified. Based on the insights gained, the rollout was then extended to other national subsidiaries.
