Risk reporting of a mid-sized German specialized institute needed to be accelerated due to new MaRisk requirements.
Credit risk simulation identified as a bottleneck – simulation on a local server took more than 12 hours per run (1x per month and 16x at the end of each quarter).
Project challenges
Simplifying the technical methodology was not an option (Monte Carlo simulation).
The algorithms used had been fully optimized through years of fine-tuning.
Halving the runtime by expanding the hardware would have tripled the costs.

Concept and development of a computing core, cloud-native and thus highly parallelizable – based on big data technologies (Hadoop/Spark).
Calculation in the AWS Cloud (Elastic Map Reduce Cluster) - 72 nodes/2,500 cores.
